Google Voice Assistant comes to JioPhone

Additionally, Google also revealed that the Assistant is coming to JioPhone.

Internet giant, Google is hosting its "Google for India" event in New Delhi today, which starts at 10:15 AM. Like the skills on Amazon Alexa, you will be able to use actions on Google Assistant to interact with services like the BookMyShow Goibibo, SBI and more.

The company has also worked with Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio to bring a customised version of Google Assistant (virtual assistant) to the latter's smart feature phones. After all, feature phones have always had a place in India, and with the likes of Jio rolling out devices with on-demand video and 4G connectivity, their numbers are set to grow. Google also announced Google Go, Files Go, Android Oreo (Go Edition) and two-wheeler mode in Google Maps, all with a particular focus on making Google services easier to access in India.

The application appears to be a Lite version of Google Search but with more functionalities.

"Then you have those who are just adopting Internet". The most important is Android Go, a lightweight edition of Android made for entry-level devices that have little storage and less than 1GB of RAM.


"There is also a new set of pre-installed Google apps, including Google Go and the Google Assistant for Android Oreo (Go edition), created to be lighter and more relevant to the unique needs of the next billion users", the search company said.

According to Google, India crossed the 400 million internet user mark this year.

"Over the next few weeks, Tez will offer a customised experience to pay bills from within the app".

Furthermore, it is also said that there are over 5.25 lakh merchants already on board, and several small businesses are already using Tez to make and receive payments. The company also showcased several upcoming features in the existing products, which will help the consumers in the country.

The company announced "Files Go", a new app that helps free up space, find files faster and share files offline with people nearby. For one, it is 4G LTE and VoLTE-ready which means that it has the capability to become a user's full-fledged internet device, much like a smartphone.
