Here's The Most-Liked & Retweeted Tweets of 2017

Despite his status as a truly prolific tweeter, President Donald Trump will not be finding any of his tweets on this year's official Twitter list of most retweeted tweets.

Likely, the biggest surprise is what is not included on the list: a tweet from Pres. Donald Trump.

Following that trend, Twitter looked back at some of the most popular tweets of the year.

His tweet in response to the awful events in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier this year where a white supremacy rally took place got the most likes on Twitter in 2017. Another tweet, which he shared after Senator John McCain's brain cancer diagnosis was made public, received more than 2 million likes, making it the third most-liked of 2017.

That was also the second most retweeted item at 1.7 million times. The former featured a sentiment echoed from Obama's January farewell address in Chicago, "Thank you for everything".

The number one retweeted tweet came from Carter Wilkerson, who begged people to retweet him so that he could get a year's worth of free chicken nuggets from Wendy's.

National Basketball Association superstar LeBron James's tweet, in which he called Trump a "bum" and added that "going to White House was a great honor until you showed up", was the seventh most retweeted post of 2017. He also came in No. 1 for top tweeted US elected officials, with Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan taking second and third. Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, fired by Trump in January, was No. 2, followed by Obama's deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes.

Obama took three of the top 10 spots on the list.
