Kevin Haskin: OU freshman Trae Young steals downtown show against Wichita State

(10) XAVIER 68, EAST TENNESSEE STATE 66: Trevon Bluiett's jumper with 6.3 seconds left completed a rally from a 22-point second-half deficit as Xavier (10-1) beat East Tennessee State (6-4) at Cincinnati. "We're No. 3, but we're still not No. 1, so we aren't the best team", Wichita State forward Rashard Kelly, the Shockers' leading rebounder, said. They are going to get some transition, they are an elite transition team.

It happened on Saturday, as the Sooners went into Intrust Bank Arena and landed an upset over No. 3 Wichita State, 91-83, in one of the toughest arenas to get a win in college basketball.

Young scored 21 points in the first half alone.

Besides Young, the frontcourt has been solid as well, with freshman Brady Manek sliding in to complement the senior Khadeem Lattin.

It's Trae Young's world, and we're all just living in it. Bonzie Colson scored 29 points for the Fighting Irish (8-3). They entered Saturday's game ranked 314th in the nation with 80.1 points allowed per game, a number that will go up after Wichita State put up 83.

Young is averaging 28.8 points a game and is one of the biggest surprises in college basketball so far this season.

"We just showed that we can play on a big stage against a great team", Manek added.

McGusty had 13 points off the bench.

(8) KENTUCKY 93, VIRGINIA TECH 86: Kevin Knox scored 21 points, Hamidou Diallo added 20, including a big 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining, and Kentucky (9-1) outlasted Virginia Tech (8-2) at Lexington, Kentucky, for its most significant victory this season.

The Musketeers (10-1) overcame their worst shooting performance of the season, making clutch shots at the end to pull it out. Myles Powell had 18 points to lead the Pirates (9-2).

No. 13 Kansas 73, Nebraska 72: Svi Mykhailiuk hit a three-pointer from the corner with 23.2 seconds left, and Kansas (8-2) held on to and break out of a mini slump. Udoka Azubuike had a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks (8-2).

The Sooners had never beaten a top-three team on the road. Corey Sanders scored eight of his season-high 22 points in a game-ending 17-2 run, leading Rutgers to its biggest victory since Steve Pikiell became coach a year ago - a 71-65 victory over No. 15 Seton Hall. Young wasted no time in dispelling the notion that the Shockers defense might be stout enough to slow him down or slow his ascent to the top of the Wooden Award list. OU has reached the 90-point level in five of eight games in 2017-18.

Wichita State (8-2) hosts Arkansas State Tuesday at Koch Arena.

Notre Dame (8-3) had two chances to retake the lead before fouling Devonte Green. He launched long-distance 3-pointers, hitting four of them, and got to the rim for contested layups.

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - In his second game back from a broken foot, Rawle Alkins scored a career-best 26 points to lead No. 23 Arizona to victory. Shamet followed with 17 points.

LAS VEGAS BOWL: Cedrick Wilson caught 10 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown, Kekaula Kaniho returned an interception 53 yards for a score and No. 25 Boise State (11-3) beat OR (7-6), 38-28. He had 21 points and seven assists - and that was at halftime.
