But before she left, she stopped by Whataburger to partake in a Texas tradition - Whataburger.

Texas first lady Cecilia Abbott and Land Commissioner George P. Bush took part in the visit that included a stop in nearby Rockport, where Harvey decimated hundreds of homes and businesses.

First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence had lunch at a Texas staple on Wednesday-Whataburger.

Corpus Christi Police Department spotted them and commended their burger choice. They will also see the family's new FEMA manufactured housing unit.

After spending time for a photo opportunity, the women were transported via motorcade to Rockport, where many families lost their homes when the hurricane hit on August 25.

"As we approach Christmas this holiday season, your family is an example of what it means to have hope and recognize your blessings", she said.

"Mrs. Pence called traveling with Mrs. Trump an honor, adding, "[Trump] comes here to Texas with a caring heart and a true concern and compassion for all those impacted by the storm".

It's something that can be intriguing to "non-Texans" who sometimes venture into the fast-food restaurant while in the Lone Star State visiting.

The first and second lady also visited a "local elementary school, touring classrooms and speaking with faculty and students about the hurricane", before stopping by a local food bank to help volunteers sort boxes of donations. They all visited the children during two separate classes.

They will not be the Coastal Bend's first White House visitors since Hurricane Harvey.
