Met Office predicts snow for Rotherham

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow weather warning, forecasting snow, wind and ice for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Forecasters said there could be a flurry of the white stuff on Friday and overnight into Saturday.

The wet weather today (Thursday) has been accompanied by temperatures reaching 12°C, but from tomorrow (Friday, December 8) it will feel much sharper with a maximum temperature of 3°C.

There will be further accumulations of snow over northern counties and over high ground elsewhere. The north and northwest areas will be most at risk, but a slight dusting could occur in other parts, including Kildare.

"It will be cold for the next 10 days, with temperatures hardly making it up to 10C during the day", said Mr Eagleton.

Lowest temperatures -2 to +2 degrees.

There'll be highs of only 5 or 6 Celsius.

A Met Eireann forecaster revealed: "Southerly winds of 50 to 65 km/h are expected with gusts of 90 to 110km/h along coastal areas on Wednesday".

A status yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
