Police Confirm Lockdown In San Juan County, New Mexico

Police have confirmed reports of a shooting at Aztec High School in Aztec, New Mexico.

Officials at the San Juan County Sheriff's Office told KRQE the shooter is in custody. One Facebook user said that over a dozen people have been injured in this shooting.

All other schools in the district have been placed on lockdown. Bloomfield Police Department shared the following message on Facebook a short while ago.


Aztec, in San Juan County, is a small town in northwest New Mexico, about three hours from Albuquerque, and Farmington authorities assisted in the shooting.

Bloomfield and Farmington high schools in the area are also on lockdown as a precaution, according to the station.

Parents of Aztec High School students are being asked to pick up their children at the Aztec Police Department.
