Rajasthan man burnt to death, cops investigate after video goes viral

Shambhulal has now been arrested by the Rajasthan Police, according to reports, and booked under IPC Section 302, among other sections, but Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria calling the incident "shocking" is simply laughable.

The victim can be seen following Shanbhu in one of the videos posted online.

Since the victim and the accused were from different communities, heavy police force has been deployed in Rajsamand to maintain law and order. The accused, Shambhu Lal Rega, had shot a video of the act and uploaded it to social media with a message that anyone involved in love-jihad will meet a similar fate.

The entire incident happened on Dev heritage road in Rajnagar area of Rajsamand.

The police have recovered the half-burnt body from the spot along with the axe used in murder and a scooter. Senior police officials including SP Manoj Kumar, ASP Manish Tripathi, DSP Rajendra Singh reached the location and found a badly disfigured body. Immediately the forensics team and dog squad were summoned.

Internet services in the Rajsamand district were suspended to stop circulation of the horrific video, fearing a communal clash. The video that surfaced on social media showed Shambhu Nath Raigar hitting the victim, Mohammad Bhatta Sheikh. The police have started its investigations. Raigar, then is seen pouring some flammable on Shaikh and setting him on fire before making his announcement about "Love-jihad".

In one of the clips, Regar, dressed in a red shirt, a pair of white pants and white shoes, attacks the man with an iron rod and stabs the man when he falls to the ground.

Similarly, other TV channels have reported the matter without questioning the phrase "love jihad" itself, taking it for granted, accepting the meaning as the peddlers of Hindutva would have it.
