Rockets fired into Israel near Gaza strip

Israeli army forces stationed at watchtowers and tanks on the borders with Gaza fired live rounds at tens of Palestinian youth protesting near the borders.

Two rockets launched at Israel from the Gaza Strip triggered air raid alarms in the area of the southern city of Sderot at approximately 7 p.m. local time.

The Israeli military said two rockets were launched toward Israel, but fell short of their intended destination and landed inside Gaza.

No terrorist group immediately took responsibility for the attack.

Demonstrators in cities including Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Ramallah rallied against Trump's shift in policy, some burning American flags and photos of the US president.

At least 31 people were injured in the demonstrations, according to Israeli medics, including one person who was in critical condition.

Jerusalem's status is among the most hard issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the USA traditional position has been that it must be negotiated between the two sides.

Clashes were also reported throughout Judea and Samaria as Palestinians rioted following United States President Donald Trump's declaration Wednesday night that the USA recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

On Wednesday, Trump announced the relocation of the USA embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem - a move which drew numerous negative reactions from Muslim communities around the world.
