San Antonio gets late rally, drops Pistons 96-93

Andre Drummond had a good game for Detroit, finishing with 14 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Detroit trailed 94-93 when Gay failed to hit the rim on a 3-point attempt as the shot clock expired with 5.2 seconds remaining, but the Pistons' Tobias Harris committed a foul prior to the violation.

Detroit comes into the contest with records of 14-8 straight up (SU) and 14-7-1 against the spread (ATS).

The San Antonio Spurs don't lose back-to-back games often and have been much better at home than on the road this season. The Detroit Pistons are shooting 38.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.7 percent from the free throw line.

With their fifth win in their last six games, the Spurs improved to 16-8, including 11-2 at home.

During their last five games, the Spurs have scored an average of 101.4 points per game (0.6 above their season average) and allowed an average of 91.6 points per game (5.6 below their season average).

"We just kept playing for 48 minutes, and the guys did a heck of a job to hang in there, keep playing and trusting each other", San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said.

But the Pistons never got the lead to double digits because the Spurs used a couple of small runs to trim down the lead despite their star points guard, Reggie Jackson, scoring 20 of his 27 points in the first half.

Leonard's 25.5 points per game last season will certainly be a welcomed addition to the team once he is able to return to the court to help them win more comfortably in the future.

Rudy Gay, making his first start in place of Anderson, had 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

"Pure luck", Green said of his swat.

The Spurs trailed 29-28 entering the second period. "I mean, if he knew I was coming, I'm sure he probably would have dunked the ball but I don't think he saw me weakside". Patty Mills joined Manu Ginobili and Matt Bonner as the only reserves in franchise history to make 500 3-pointers. "I went up and got lucky". Furthermore, they play at the second-slowest pace per game.
