Windsor wedding date for Harry and Meghan

Windsor wedding date for Harry and Meghan

Just a few weeks after the engagement between Harry and Meghan was announced on November 27, Kensington Palace confirmed the date on which they will marry: the pair is set to walk down the aisle on May 19, 2018.

"Today's announcement follows earlier confirmation of the month of the wedding and its location at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle", the statement continued. Markle is an American actress best known for her role on the television series "Suits".

The palace also shared that the royal family would foot the bill for the wedding - which some have estimated could have a price tag of up to $32 million in security costs alone. She's also recognized for her humanitarian work, including as a global ambassador for World Vision Canada; her film and TV credits include "General Hospital", "CSI: Miami", "Get Him to the Greek", "Horrible Bosses" and, briefly, working as a briefcase girl on "Deal or No Deal".

Kensington Palace has announced May 19, 2018, as the big day.

This will be Markle's second marriage; she was previously married to film producer Trevor Engelson in 2011, but they divorced two years later. It features a diamond from Botswana accompanied by two smaller diamonds from Diana's jewellery collection, which the Prince said he wanted to include "to make sure she's with us on this insane journey together".

Harry's romance continues to modernise the monarchy, because unlike any other unmarried partner of a senior royal family member, Markle will be tucking into roast turkey with the Queen at Sandringham House in Norfolk this Christmas.
