Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid critics can say whatever they want

Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid critics can say whatever they want

With Karim Benzema also failing to find the net regularly, a lack of goals has blighted Real's season so far.

A series of disappointing performances have left the defending LaLiga champions eight points off the pace in the title race, with Zinedine Zidane's side perched in fourth spot.

And it's not just their league form that's been patchy.

With Madrid already assured of second place in Group H behind Tottenham Hotspur, Zidane is expected to heavily rotate his side against Dortmund ahead of a busy end to the year for Real.

But according to Ramos, there's no disagreement between himself and Ronaldo, with the Spaniard insisting the pair are friends.

Speaking to TVE, the Spain captain claimed: "Nothing has ever happened between him and me". I think that there's always been a great friendship between Cristiano and me.

"We have a lot of personality and have some different opinions, but we're pulling in the same direction".

Following Saturday's 0-0 La Liga draw at Athletic Bilbao, AS compared this season so far to 2015-16 under Rafa Benitez, and pointed out that Zidane's side now have two fewer points and have scored seven fewer goals with 14 games played than they had under the current Newcastle boss.

Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has scored only two La Liga goals this season compared with 10 at the same stage last season, but is the Champions League's top scorer with eight strikes in five games.

Zidane, though, rejected widespread suggestions, most recently from Valencia coach Marcelino Garcia Toral, that Madrid's squad is poorer this season for the loss of Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez and Pepe in the off-season.
