BSNL jumps into data and validity revision game, update its prepaid plans

Reliance Jio Infocomm added as many as 6.11 million customers in November, taking its market share past 13% while rivals Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular registered comparatively lower customer gains of 4.34 million, 2.7 million and 3.19 million respectively, according to data put out by the telecom regulator. Similarly, its Rs. 509 pack now offers 91-day validity, up from the previous 84 days. Talking about the benefits of the Jio 4G 149 plan, the plan offers unlimited calls including all local, STD and roaming calls. To start with the Rs 186 and Rs 187 plans, both of them now offers unlimited voice calls along with 1GB of data per day over a period of 28 days. The pack that earlier offer 150MB 4G data and now the pack offers 1GB daily data. However, after 30 days, subscribers have to buy further data packs or plans to enjoy mobile internet from BSNL. The company has extended its validity from 84 days to 91 days. Apart from these, Jio is now offering 3GB data per day and 5GB data per day for 28 days with the Rs. 509 and Rs. 799 packs, respectively. However, Jio's Rs. 199 pack provides 1.2GB 4G data per day while the Airtel's pack gives only 1GB data per day. This pack also features unlimited calls and 100 SMS daily.

Vodafone offers 1GB 4G/3G data per day at Rs 509.


The Rs. 458 plan offered 70-day validity till recently, but is now valid for 84 days. The total data in the 509 plan of Jio is 84GB and the validity is 28 days. Jio offers the highest amount data of all three. Vodafone's Rs 509 will compete against Airtel's Rs 509 and Jio's Rs 498 plans.

The price war between Airtel and Reliance Jio is still on... For example, the Rs. 349 pack gives helps prepaid users with 2GB data daily, unlimited local, STD and roaming calls with 100 SMS per day.
