Cameron lauds Dushku for speaking up against sexual misconduct

USA actress Eliza Dushku's claim of a sexual assault when she was filming True Lies, aged 12, has been backed by both her mother and then-legal guardian.

As she revealed in a lengthy Facebook post on Saturday, Dushku is accusing Kramer of sexually molesting her when she was 12 years old and working on True Lies. She also alleges that after an adult friend of hers confronted him, that she was injured on a stunt he oversaw the next day.

Dushku, who is from Watertown, was filming the movie "True Lies" 25 years ago when the alleged incident occurred in a Miami hotel room, she said.

At TCA representing his new AMC Visionaries project James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction, the director and explorer said, "I just heard about it, but obviously Eliza is very fearless for speaking up, and I think all the women are that are speaking up and calling for a reckoning now". I think all the women are that are speaking up and calling for a reckoning now. She says after one friend she told confronted Kramer-who was in charge of rigging Dushku-she had her ribs broken in a stunt "by no small coincidence". I know the other party - not well - he hasn't worked for me since then.

Thanking the abuse and harassment victims who have come forward with their own stories in recent months, Dushku said that she was finally ready to tell her own, and that it has been "indescribably exhausting, bottling this up inside me for all of these years". "Now, especially that I have daughters, there's really no mercy". I think that going forward it's important for all industries-certainly Hollywood-to create a safe avenue for people to speak up.

In addition to the encouragement she felt from other women speaking out, Dushku noted that she was further emboldened to make her claims publicly when she realized Kramer had not been "found out" and banished from Hollywood as she was previously led to believe.

The string of allegations against influential men in Hollywood continues into 2018, with the latest bombshell claim coming in the form of a Facebook post this week by actress Eliza Dushku.

It's just heartbreaking that it happened to her. She told MTV: "Jim should give me a call, we should talk about it". It's not true. I think she's making this up in her imagination. "When he was 'finished", he suggested, 'I think we should be careful...,' [about telling anyone] he meant".

As for the injury Dushku wrote about, Kramer says there would be a production report.

"She is painting me out to be a monster which I am not", he continued.
