Could Chris Brown face jail time for having a pet monkey?

Chris Brown has a done a pretty good job at staying out of trouble lately but the singer is once again facing problems. Some of Breezy's followers voiced concern about dangers of the three-year-old being next to the exotic Capuchin monkey and called up the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to report the pop star.

"Chris Brown posted something on Instagram in December and showed a picture of his daughter with the monkey and said it was his pet", an officer from the Department of Fish and Wildlife told Page Six on Friday, January 12.

Chris Brown could get jail time over a lack of a permit for a pet monkey.

It should also be worth noting that Fiji, the monkey, is now in good hands and doing just fine. Chris told everyone to chill.

Turns out Chris never got a permit for the exotic pet, so authorities got a search warrant but before Chris' house got raided, he voluntarily agreed to surrender the animal.

Foy says Brown wasn't there but had employees hand over the monkey in a cage. So sadly at the moment Chris no longer has his monkey, but that's not where it ends. Chris just dropped his album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon, late previous year, which consisted of 45 tracks.

Brown's attorney Mark Geragos has since said he thought it was "absurd" of the City Attorney to 'spend taxpayer money on investigating monkey business'.

However according to the publication, the "Heartbreak On A Full Moon" singer could be charged with having a restricted species without a permit, which carries a maximum sentence of 6 months in jail.

The case has already been referred to the L.A. City Attorney office and a misdemeanor charge could be coming Chris Brown's way.
