Cris Cyborg Rejects Dana White's Proposal That She Fight Amanda Nunes Next

Instead of subjecting yet another bantamweight trying her hand at a heavier division against one of the best to ever do it, the UFC should instead look outside the promotion and at Megan Anderson of Australia, the Invicta FC featherweight champion.

"Amanda Nunes is a big, strong, powerful puncher".

The UFC has Cris Cyborg's back in a big way - banning an MMA photog (who works for the gym where Holly Holm trains) after the guy referred to Cyborg as a "dude". UFC president Dana White liked the idea so much that he declared it would be the fight he'd make next for Cyborg.

This means that if Nunes wants to fight at 135 lbs next, she may have to wait for a contender to emerge from the Cat Zingano vs Ketlin Vieira fight at UFC 222.

White, in an interview with Yahoo!

She would rather face another contender and continue building the UFC women's featherweight division, which is in its infancy.

Cyborg (19-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC), the UFC women's featherweight champion who is fresh off a title defense vs. Holly Holm at UFC 219 this past weekend, took to Instagram today to reveal that she's accepted an offer to fight Anderson (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC 221, which takes place February 10 in Australia.

"As a World Champion it is important that you face the No. 1 contender". Sorenson (7-2) is riding a two-fight win streak, with her most recent win being a 140 lb catchweight contest against Jane Finney.

"I have a responsibility to the sport to ensure that when I retire the 145lbs division continues to exist, and it is because of that I want my next fight to be against a contender from the featherweight division that has fought at 145lbs within the a year ago".

But it appears that a dream clash against bantamweight champion Nunes could be on the cards for featherweight title-holder Cyborg. I can continue giving fans superfights.

If Megan Anderson is not ready to fight, then the next available contender Pam Sorenson deserves the opportunity.

Cris nor her team have been offered a fight against me at UFC Perth by the UFC despite the rumours.
