Flashpoint finds a pair of directors

After debuting as the Bat of Gotham in Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck went on to play a small supporting role in Suicide Squad, and followed that up a year later with another leading role in Justice League, where he exhibited great chemistry with Miller in a mentor-mentee relationship between Batman and The Flash.

According to TheHollywoodReporter, Daley and Goldstein will step in following the departure of Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, who took over from the film's original director Seth Grahame-Smith.

Best known for their acclaimed work on Spider-Man: Homecoming, both Daley and Goldstein have also accrued writing credits on Horrible Bosses and Game Night, indicating that Warner Bros.is eyeing a comedic tone for its long-gestating Flashpoint movie.

Ben Affleck (The Batman?) had been approached about the gig, too, but ultimately chose to decline, leading the studio to appoint John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein at the helm.

There had been a number of reports over the past 7 months or so that found WB looking at Robert Zemeckis for the film that at last year's SDCC was officially titled Flashpoint, but after the struggles at the box office faced by Justice League, it was indeed a fair and open question as to the future of this project at all. As it were though, the pair's collaborations together won't extend to behind the camera on Flashpoint. This to the point where they have rebooted the script and the film is now Flashpoint, which potentially points to some sort of soft reboot of the DC film universe. DC and Warner Bros. are now gearing up for the standalone release of The Flash's fellow "Justice League" teammember "Aquaman". The Flash solo film has previously had two other directors attached.

For the time being, however, Affleck's future in the DC Films universe remains as big a mystery as ever, and that includes his potential involvement as a cast member in Flashpoint.
