HTC U11 EYEs to be officially launched on January 15 in China

The company has teased the launch via a Weibo post saying to keep your eyes open and to save the date. This is now confirmed to be the HTC U11 EYEs, courtesy notable tipster Evan Blass.

Towards the end of 2017, we learnt about the forthcoming HTC U11 EYEs thanks to reliable leaker Evan Blass. Rendered in black, silver and red, the Edge Sense-enabled handset clearly features two front-facing shooters, but alas, their megapixel counts remain under wraps. It should be noted that One M8 was HTC's one and only dual camera smartphone and it was launched back in 2014. And it inherits the U11's rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which is situated above the EYEs's etched HTC logo and underneath its 12MP rear camera.

Under the hood, the HTC U11 EYEs is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. While the company is expected to come out with the U12 flagship in the first half of 2018, it was reported that HTC will kick off the new year by launching a mid-range smartphone that will join its U11 lineup. Its owners will be able to enjoy music on it by connecting headphones to its USB-C port.

HTC U11 EYEs (aka Harmony) is rumoured to be backed by a 3,930mAh battery, and come with IP67 water and dust resistance. Earlier leaks have also revealed that the smartphone will offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage capacity.

The images Blass had leaked reveal a dual-selfie-camera setup and an 18:9 aspect ratio display on the phone, which makes it the company's second to come with the trendy feature.

The U11 EYEs will launch with Android Nougat. Rumor has it the HTC U11 EYEs will be available in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, initially.
