Indian Army jawans injured during practice drill

The accident happened when the army men were descending from the chopper by means of a rope; the rope broke down abruptly and the soldiers plummeted to the ground.

Three Indian Army soldiers fell off a helicopter after the rope slipped off during a practice drill ahead of Army Day parade.

"No one suffered any serious injury".

A video doing the rounds on social media, shows soldiers sliding down a rope from the helicopter.

Two Army jawans were injured during slithering operation.


The helicopter being used for the slithering operation was indigenous Dhruv Advanced Lightweight Helicopters. The incident took place when the jawans descended from a helicopter with a rope which snapped - plummeting the jawans to the ground, as reported by Zee News.

In order to determine the actual cause behind the accident which is yet not clear, an enquiry has been ordered by the Indian Army.

In a freak incident, three jawans of the Indian Army had a lucky escape as they fell off a chopper during slithering operations being conducted as part of the rehearsal for Army Day on January 15.

"Slithering operation ceases for all ALH with immediate effect after the accident".

The Indian Army celebrates Army Day in honour of Lieutenant General KM Kariappa who took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher on 15 January 1949.
