Iwobi Bags Assist, Ibe Hits Winner As Bournemouth Stun Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez's omission from the matchday squad had sparked rumours of an impending move to Manchester United and Arsene Wenger admitted as much in his pre-match press conference as the Chilean winger inched toward the end of a six-month-long saga.

The home side mustered the first attempt when Adam Smith fired wide early on, but after eight minutes Arsenal were within a whisker of breaking through.

Hector Bellerin opened the scoring for the visitors in the 52nd minute, capitalizing on a brilliant slide-rule pass from Alex Iwobi.

The 25-year-old was key to Bournemouth's comeback, though, scoring the first after a magnificent cross from Fraser and then providing the assist for Ibe's victor. Referee Kevin Friend had a brilliant view but turned down strong appeals from those in red and black.

Arsenal Team to play Bournemouth: Cech, Chambers, Mustafi, Holding, Bellerin, Xhaka, Wilshere, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, Welbeck, Lacazette. The Gunners had warnings prior to the goal, with Ibe and Fraser forcing stops from Petr Cech, but the Arsenal 'keeper then did poor as Eddie Howe's side made it 1-1.

Although the Gunners defence was again found wanting, when Callum Wilsons steered home a left-footed effort after great work from Ryan Fraser who provided the assist on the 70th minute to equalise for Bournemouth 1-1.

The win saw Bournemouth climb to thirteenth on the Premier League table with 24 points.

For Arsenal, their season is falling away without a trace.

The Gunners on the other hand were left effectively condemned in the sixth position, five points behind fifth placed Tottenham Hotspurs who secured a 4-0 emphatic win over Everton on Saturday.
