Jordan Mechner Teases New Prince of Persia Game

However, its creator has given new hope today that the Prince may yet make a long-awaited comeback down the line. This post caught the eye if Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner who explained that he is doing his best to revive Prince Of Persia.

It's been a long time since we've seen Prince of Persia with the latest release being the 2013 iOS game "Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame" and the last console release being the 2010 "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands". Mechner was behind the original Prince of Persia game that launched in 1989 and has been on board to help with other entries in the series, including the 2001 reboot that relaunched the series into stardom.

Considering Assassin's Creed has its roots in Prince of Persia, it's definitely time for the former to retire for a few years.

In the early 2000s, the Prince of Persia franchise was perhaps one of the most successful gaming franchises around, producing multiple games that were usually all received well by the fans and critics alike. However, by the end of the PS3/Xbox 360 era, the series seemed to be put on ice and the Assassin's Creed franchise appears to have taken its place. No doubt there are many gamers out there who have fond memories of the series and would love to see it return. Mechner said on Twitter, though he sadly didn't elaborate further.

A new Prince of Persia has yet to be confirmed.
