Kevin De Bruyne signs new Manchester City deal

Manchester City have secured the future of their Belgian midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, after he renewed his contract with the club until 2023.

"I am really happy to have signed this new deal", de Bruyne, who joined the City from German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in 2015, told the club's website.

And with his team also still in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and UEFA Champions League, De Bruyne is hoping to celebrate his new deal with silverware in the coming months.

City have now confirmed that the Belgian worldwide has extended his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2023, and the playmaker has acknowledged that he is delighted to have agreed fresh terms with Pep Guardiola's side.

"Kevin's new deal is great news for our club", said director of football Txiki Begiristain.

Having experienced an unsuccessful spell in England previously with Chelsea, De Bruyne has become an integral figure in Guardiola's side, contributing 10 assists and six goals in the division this season.

However, his performances since, including 38 Premier League assists for City, have led to him being rewarded with a bumper new deal - announced at exactly the same time that rivals Manchester United heralded the signing of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

De Bruyne is one of many cogs that have driven the seemingly unstoppable City machine, which continued on Saturday as they once again sustained the hefty gap at the top of Premier League table to 12 points with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United. De Bruyne's strike was his eighth of an outstanding season for the Belgium midfielder and Silva expects him to play another pivotal role in Bristol.

The Belgium global midfielder is set to significantly improve his salary with reports suggesting the new deal could be worth around £260,000-a-week.
