Liverpool January target likely to stay put over World Cup fears

Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has admitted that Arsenal and Liverpool target Thomas Lemar could leave in January.

The 21 year old French global has been one of the hottest prospects in world football and both Arsenal and Liverpool are looking at him to fill voids in their squads.

On the other hand, Mirror have reported that Liverpool want Lemar and will try to get his signing done by making a bid this month.

The Frenchman almost joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window but a late move on deadline day fell through. The paper says the defender, who has been highly-rated at Stamford Bridge, has caught the eye of several Championship clubs, but has been convinced to make the move to Sunderland for a relegation scrap.

Liverpool have been linked with French worldwide and Monaco star Thomas Lemar and the rumors have gathered pace since the departure of Coutinho from the Anfield club.

Arsenal had an offer worth around £90m to sign him accepted by Monaco after Arsene Wenger indentified him as the flawless fit to replace Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez.

The Frenchman will be even more furious if he is beaten to the punch by Liverpool this month, however, as Jurgen Klopp earmarks Lemar as the man to take Coutinho's place in his pacy attacking Reds side. "But the month is long and many things could happen", said the Monaco coach. I still want to keep Lemar.

"He's young. He could play for another decade".

Ozil and Sanchez will become free agents in the summer; however, the latter could be on the move this month with Manchester City favourites to land the Chilean.

Meanwhile, Liverpool were also linked with Lemar in the summer and the rumours have resurfaced following Phillipe Coutinho's departure to Barcelona. "He has a lot of qualities, I like him a lot".
