Loyal Dog Walks 40 Miles to Find Previous Owners

Loyal Dog Walks 40 Miles to Find Previous Owners

Meet Cathleen, a 6-year-old Great Pyrenees mix.

Cathleen the dog missed her old family so much she trekked 20 miles to find them on two different occasions.

An abandoned dog walked 20 miles looking for the family that moved away and left her behind.

"Her heart wants to be with them but they can not keep her", the shelter wrote on Facebook.

While Cathleen's pain of missing her family is heartbreaking, her perseverance to find them sheds light on the often forgotten fact that pets are living beings with very real feelings, much like people, and it's important to be sensitive and aware of their emotional wellbeing.

Cathleen is not the only dog who was recently reunited - however briefly - with her owners in a remarkable fashion. So they gave her to someone in Prague, live with.

She was described as the ideal family pet - humble, kind, healthy, housebroken, loves children, plays well with other dogs and doesn't pull on a leash.

"She's very sweet; very calm and docile", shelter employee Lynzi Thompson said. "She may seem shy at first but will open up to you definitely". She's a love bug.

The humane society's post drew quite a bit of media attention.

After moving to a home Seminole, Oklahoma that didn't allow her original family to keep her, Cathleen was placed with another family temporarily in the nearby town of Prague while the animal shelter worked on finding her a new home, WSMV reported. She'd been stuck there for five days.
