Man arrested and charged in tragic killing of Rihanna's cousin

Shawayne Dashawn Williams, 23, appeared in the District "A" Magistrates' Court Wednesday in Bridgetown, Barbados. She shared some of the photos she took with her cousin whom she saw just the day before, and ended her message with the hashtag #endgunviolence. Through the photos she posted on Instagram, she requested to bring an end to the gun violence.

A suspect was arrested and charged with murder in the shooting of Rihanna's cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, according to local reports.

'RIP cousin. can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms!' the heartbroken Wild Thoughts singer wrote to her 59million Instagram followers.

Barbados police said gun-related deaths in the country have spiked compared to years before. We love you Tavon'. Alleyne, 21, was murdered on Boxing Day at around 7pm, as he was walking nearby his home.


Alleyne was killed in the Barbadian capital of Bridgetown on December 26, after being approached by a man who shot him multiple times.

Police have arrested and formally charged Shawayne Dashawn Williams, 23 years of White Hall #1, St. Michael, for the murder of Tavon Alleyne, 21 years of Lakes Close, Eden Lodge, St. Michael, which occurred sometime around 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, whilst at Eden Lodge, St. Michael. Alleyne was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

At the time she announced the news, no information concerning the incident was given.
