Manchester United make preliminary enquires for Jamie Vardy and Javier Hernandez

The story says that Manchester United are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this month as Mourinho looks to give his team the best possible chance of catching Manchester City in the race for the title.

United have reportedly bettered Manchester City's £20m offer for Alexis Sanchez by lodging a £25m offer, although it is still thought that the Chilean prefers a move to the blue side of Manchester.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still out with a follow-up injury after damaging his cruciate ligament and Romelu Lukaku is struggling at times.

Manchester United have enquired about the possibility of re-signing Javier Hernandez as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his strike force, according to reports in the British media.

The England worldwide would bring goals and has 10 for the season already for the Foxes. The Englishman would be eligible to play in the Champions League and, although a very different player to Lukaku, would guarantee goals.

And according to the Telegraph's James Duncker, Man United have made preliminary enquiries for Vardy and Hernandez, with the latter firmly on the periphery under David Moyes.

Whether he would be willing to go from being Leicester's first choice to Lukaku's back-up remains to be seen, and United may also find his price tag a little high, considering he is now 31. He was sold by Louis van Gaal to Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 before returning to the Premier League for £17m to join West Ham in the summer.

Mourinho has previously talked up Hernandez's ability, claiming he would not have allowed him to leave Old Trafford if he was in charge.
