Mary J. Blige Honored With Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Just yesterday Mary J. Blige was honoured with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, that happened to also be her birthday.

In her speech, the singer said "Am so grateful for this star right now because I've earned it probably three times, and I say that with confidence and not arrogance". "But when we stepped outside that door it was hell. Look at where we are", Blige replied to one fan.

Mary's new single follow's up on the trend where she sings to the ladies about coming "too far to lose". I didn't know if I wanted to die, I didn't know what, I just knew I was ready to check out.

"By the time I got to the My Life album I didn't know, I didn't want to live".

Rap mogul Sean Combs and music producer Andre Harrell were among those joining Blige at the ceremony.

Blige came to fame with her multi-platinum 1992 debut album What's the 411? which included the hit Real Love.

Blige was born on January 11, 1971, in the Bronx, a borough of New York City, and was raised in Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Yonkers, New York.

Born in the Bronx, Blige signed with Uptown Records in 1989 and became the label's youngest and first female artist at the age of 18. Both praised Blige for her talent and strength.

"When all hell was turning loose in 2016 and I had to file and all of that stuff, I was homeless a year ago", she said, adding, "Jimmy Iovine took me in to his Malibu home, he and his handsome wife, Liberty". She recently nominated for the Best Original Song at the 2018 Golden Globes for the song "Mighty River'and Best Supporting Actress role in the movie 'Mudbound".
