Meryl Streep Has Some Strong Feelings About Mariah Carey Taking Her Chair

But our favorite behind-the-scenes drama from Sunday's 75th Golden Globes was pretty lighthearted and harmless despite it occurring between two indisputable queens: Meryl Streep and Mariah Carey.

"But I said 'No, no, no, stay there!" "It looked comfy", Streep said, laughing. Leave it to Streep, however, to craft a creative solution so both she and Mariah could sit. "That's Meryl Streep!" the American Idol victor exclaimed upon spotting the Oscar-winning actress at the tail end of an interview with E!

Meryl is one of the world's most acclaimed actresses, winning Oscars for her roles in The Iron Lady and Sophie's Choice, among others. "Other than the fact that she's an incredible actor, she's also an fantastic singer". Clearly enjoying chatting to fellow guests, Mariah admitted she stopped to mingle during an ad break and then couldn't get back to her seat in time.

The interesting Twitter thread from the singer, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song for "The Star" from the animated film, has social media users in split.

She told E! News' Ryan Seacrest: "I'm very, very excited to be here with Mónica Ramírez". Streep said to her that Carey could "take her seat" anytime. "Cut to the next commercial break, guess who comes back to her seat".

While award show red carpets used to be filled with answers to the question, "Who are you wearing?" this year, actresses largely used their time at the microphone to advance their causes.

"This cheek has been caressed by Meryl Streep", she gushed in the second episode of her web series Minute + a Glass of Wine. "We all saw the legendary Glitter", one of her 20 million followers wrote.
