Mitt Romney was 'successfully treated' for prostate cancer previous year

"Mitt Romney was treated over the summer for prostate cancer", this person said.

Mitt Romney, who is considering a Senate run from Utah, was treated for prostrate cancer past year, CNN reported Monday.

The news comes as Romney, 70, weighs whether to run for a Utah Senate seat now occupied by Republican Sen.

"The cancer was removed surgically and found not to have spread beyond the prostate", one aide said.

According to the report, which cited an unnamed source, the former MA governor was "treated surgically". According to Tapper, the 70-year-old former governor's prognosis is "good".

In a short statement on Facebook he posted after Hatch's announcement, Romney thanked Hatch for his service but didn't mention whether he would run. Trump and Romney spoke by phone last week.

The Senate run would be his first political campaign since a failed run for president in 2012.
