Mkhitaryan to leave Man United? Every player has a price, says Mourinho

United were expected to be relatively quiet in the current window, but have unexpectedly launched a move for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez in a bid to snatch him from under the noses of Manchester rivals, Man City.

United missed out on Ivan Perisic in the summer after Jose Mourinho had clearly stated that he wanted to make four signings.

The Armenian started this season in a similar vein, laying on regular assists for the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba, before a loss of form led to another ostracizing by Mourinho.

"My approach to players is that every player has a price", Mourinho said - quoted by Sky Sports.

While Mourinho did not name the Chilean forward, with whom his club has been strongly linked lately, he did say that Old Trafford should capitalize on any "fantastic opportunity" that could one arise now.

However, despite a disappointing display in the Red Devils' goalless draw against Southampton, Mkhitaryan was handed a start against the Championship side in the FA Cup. I think every player has a price. I think every player has a price.

"And I am not the kind of blind manager.blind in the sense of, this player is untouchable, can never be sold".

City, who value Sanchez at £20m, are also refusing to meet the financial demands of Sanchez's representatives to complete the deal - figures understood to be in the region of £5m - and are prepared to walk away from the transfer unless manager Pep Guardiola chooses to make a late personal intervention to attempt to negotiate a breakthrough with the player's camp.

"He consulted other doctors and other opinions, and we all made the decision to stop treatment".

'But Mkhitaryan played the last match in the FA Cup against Derby.

"It's up to us to decide what we think is the right price".

Boss Mourinho has omitted Mkhitaryan from his matchday squad eight times in the last 10 weeks but expects him to feature against Stoke next.

"He is our player and a very good player". So tomorrow training, then Sunday selected and Monday play'.
