Naby Keita will not join Liverpool in January, say RB Leipzig

Liverpool have reportedly held discussions with RB Leipzig with a view to bringing forward the transfer of Naby Keita.

He has not reproduced the form this season that prompted Liverpool to pay what, at the time, was a club record fee.

This tactic has been a main reason behind Liverpool's attacking prowess this season, with Firmino working in flawless harmony with wingers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, and the recently departed Philippe #Coutinho.

Liverpool rejected repeated bids in August but finally gave into Coutinho's demands to leave after sealing a transfer deal worth up to 160 million euros ($192 million), making the Brazilian playmaker Barcelona's costliest ever signing. I don't think it should affect us at all.

"Since the moment I arrived in Liverpool, me and my family have been made to feel so welcome and have made so many friends", Coutinho wrote.

The January transfer window can often be uneventful, with clubs not keen to sell midway through the season, and others unwilling to take a punt on new players.

Although far from a like-for-like player, acquiring Keita before this window closes would make up for the loss of a wonderful footballer.

"I wish Phil all the very best but the only thing I'm concentrating on is Liverpool and winning as many games as we can - starting with Man City on Sunday".

The 19-year-old winger has been linked with a move to Liverpool to help replace Philippe Coutinho and reunite with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp.

The player clearly wants to move now.

"I am the type of person who relishes the chance to stand up and perform under pressure, I have had to do that my whole career. To all the incredible club staff who have been part of my life in Liverpool - I will miss you".

"But he isn't creative enough if you want to challenge for the title and the Champions League".
