Nitish Kumar's convoy attacked in Buxar

Angry villagers on Friday attacked the cavalcade of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar with bricks and stones, alleging that the state administration was carrying out only "selective development".

According to reports, attackers hurled stones at the cavalcade but that did not hamper its movement.

He told security personnel deployed at the venue of the public meeting not to worry about protests or if somebody wanted to raise slogans and show black flags. Although the chief minister escaped unhurt, some of his security men sustained serious injuries.

Over 500 villagers of Nandan panchayat were insisting that the chief minister, who went there to take stock of the progress of development schemes as part of his ongoing Sameeksha Yatra, should also carry out a door-to-door inspection in their hamlet for a reality check. "A section of the villagers were unhappy with the lack of development in their tola. They try to mislead and provoke others but people should not get perturbed over such minor happenings".

Tejaswi added, "The CM of the state was attacked, but noone has mentioned about "Maha-jungleraj"... because the one who talked of jungleraj is not the deputy CM of the state". "CM should evaluate his political character", said Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar legislative assembly. "We will be questioning some suspects soon", said a senior police officer.
