NRI held for molesting United States national

A 22-year-old Indian origin, working for search engine giant Google, has been arrested for allegedly molesting a United States woman in a five-star hotel in Delhi on Friday.

Anmol Singh Kharbanda, who claims to work for a US-based multinational corporation, was a guest at the hotel where he met the 52-year-old woman, the police said.

"Both Kharbanda and the victim were staying in Taj Palace hotel for the last few days", the officer added. The woman alleged that the accused laced her drink and tried to grope her while she was semi-conscious. On January 10, she approached the police with a complaint, following which a case was registered and the accused arrested, the police said. It may contain error, bugs and other limitations. A case of molestation was registered, after which Kharbanda was arrested.

The woman left the room then and went to Jaipur the next day, Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) BK Singh, said. Police have recovered CCTV footage from the hotel which shows the man entering the room with the woman. She reported the incident and complained to the police on Thursday after returning to Delhi. "She pushed him away and ran out of the room", said Singh. Taj Diplomatic Enclave stated that they would co-operate with the authorities in all possible way. "Her statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, after which Kharbanda was arrested". "We are aware of this incident. [The] Safety and security of our guests and associates is paramount", the spokesperson said. In her statement, the woman said she did not register a complaint immediately but changed her mind after narrating her ordeal to a friend.
