OR upsets Arizona State: How Ducks pulled off big road win

Happy Thursday, ladies and gentlemen of cyberspace.

In that one, Oregon State's Tres Tinkle logged 19 points and 12 rebounds.

It's a matchup of opposites, with the Wildcats featuring a dizzying offensive attack spearheaded by a three-headed monster of Deandre Ayton, Allonzo Trier and Rawle Alkins-who score 20.4, 19.6 and 15.6 points per game, respectively.

Oregon State finished the 2017 season ranked third after advancing to the College World Series, where the Beavers were one of four teams remaining.

After playing its first three Pac-12 games either at home or just down the road in Corvallis, the Ducks hit the road Thursday night and pulled off a major upset - a 76-72 win at No. 11 Arizona State. Arizona, by comparison, is 72.7 per game, which ranks 196th in the country (and fifth in the Pac 12).

OR (12-5, 2-2 Pac-12) used a late spurt to go up eight points and hit four free throws in the final 32 seconds against the Sun Devils (13-3, 1-3).

Loyola Marymount 67, USF 65: Eli Scott scored 18 points and Jeffery McClendon made three free throws with 0.7 of a second left as the host Lions (6-10, 1-4 WCC) edged the Dons (10-8, 2-3) to snap a six-game skid.

The Beavers return to action against No. 11 Arizona State at 3 p.m. PT (4 p.m. MT) on Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe. "He's the most versatile player on our team". "Those teams are playing tremendous", Jackson-Cartwright said.

There were some ugly spots in the second half for Arizona, but the defensive intensity and effort improved from its road loss against Colorado, which was what Sean Miller preached about.

Head Coach Dana Altman also has a good history of having his teams together by the time Pac-12 play comes around.

"The best offense is good defense", Alkins said. "They seem to be hitting their stride, which makes sense". You look out and see things happen.

The Oregon Ducks, who came into conference play hoping to contend for a conference title, are surprisingly near the bottom of the conference so far at 1-2, with losses to Utah and cross-town rival Oregon State.

How to bet: Vegas has Arizona as a 15-point favorite against Oregon State.
