Rain expected Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

After Thursday's high of near 70 degrees, temperatures aren't expected to climb out out of the 40s and 50s in Gulfport for the next seven days.

That cold air will quickly spread eastward Saturday morning, changing the rain over to a mix of ice and snow. A light coating of ice and snow is expected.

A cold front will bring lower temperatures across Central Florida into this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The heaviest rain falls Friday night into Saturday morning across eastern and southeastern Mass. Low around 36. South wind 6 to 10 miles per hour. Day, will be partly sunny with a daytime high near 23 degrees and a nighttime low of about 18 degrees. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 33 by 5 p.m. Northwest wind 14 to 16 miles per hour.

The region is under a winter weather advisory in effect from 4 a.m.to 10 a.m. Saturday for freezing rain, with total ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch of ice.

The NWS's hourly forecast has the highest probability of rain from 10 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 16.

Nights will dip into the 20s and low 30s, which means cold weather shelters will open across South Mississippi.
