Ronaldo and Messi headline the 2017 UEFA Team of the Year

The European football's governing body on Thursday revealed the star-studded team on their twitter account.

Other top players included in the team are Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Toni Kroos. The fans were asked to submit their best Xls of the year which saw the Los Blancos centre-back Ramos making most team appearances with 73.7% inclusions. The squad is as follows: Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus).

In midfield, Kevin De Bruyne received the most votes with 52.2%, accompanied by Real duo Luka Modric, who got 48.5%, and Toni Kroos with 43.3%.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid): 48.5%.

A total 8,779,639 votes were recorded to rake up Messi for the 9th time straight in 10 years and Ronaldo for record 11th straight time.

Real Madrid dominate UEFA's Fans' Team of the Year 2017 with five players in the XI but there is no space for Neymar despite the Paris Saint-Germain forward's status as the world's most expensive player. He was picked for a fifth time and is just one appearance behind leading keeper Iker Casillas.

UEFA have announced their official 2017 Team of the Year, but Neymar did not make the cut. Despite not participating in last year's Champions League, Hazard racked up three goals and two assists in six group matches at the tail end of 2017.
