Steelers WR Brown sent home from practice due to illness

Steelers WR Brown sent home from practice due to illness

The two interceptions were part of a career-worst outing for Ben Roethlisberger, who posted five interceptions, a QBR of 22.2 and a passer rating of 37.8.

Heading into a Divisional Round playoff game against the Steelers, the QB spent a moment with the press talking about why he's comfortable with the criticism and jokes he deals with.

The Steelers are the number two fan base in the city of Jacksonville, due to their dominance in the 70's when Jacksonville did not have a team.

The Steelers do not care about Jacksonville's defensive prominence.

If and when Brown gets over his illness, Pittsburgh will enter this postseason far healthier than in years past.

Are The Steelers Distracted?

It started last week when Roethlisberger said in an interview that he wanted to play the Jaguars. Pittsburgh will obviously be looking for a much different result than the last meeting of these two teams. "So I think we have a good chance of winning".

And yet Steelers cornerback Mike Mitchell is guaranteeing a Steelers' win over the Patriots in the AFC championship game. It also alleviates some of the pressure off star running back Le'Veon Bell to be more effective in the running game.

Brown suffered the calf injury early in the December 17 loss to New England and missed the two subsequent games.

"I am not anxious about what's going on up there (with the Patriots)", Roethlisberger said. "I know what I do and what I bring to the table". Whether that's knocking balls down or getting at the QB.

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium said Friday that they arranged a bet with the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Linebacker Telvin Smith and Safety Barry Church were both successful in completing pick-sixes against the veteran quarterback, adding two to the total of 13 interceptions that the Jaguars made this season.

Jacksonville RB Leonard Fournette is a beast when he's right. It is the best defense in the league against an offense that is the best in name value. Now that it's the postseason, there are no more excuses.

"I'm sure just as any competitor would, when you go and have a bad outing or a hard, tough outing against a team, you want that revenge", Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles said.

There is a line of thinking that because football is so demanding and exacts such a toll, a player who speaks as openly and candidly about pondering retirement as Roethlisberger has done is already well down that path to walking away.

The key to victory for the Jags is not playing from behind. His first assignment back will not be easy either, against the top pass defense in the league.

The proof can be heard on the practice field, where Foster says Bell keeps yelling "Tempo!" The receiving corps has repeatedly been hit with injuries throughout the year.

It also set the tone for Ramsey's career. The Steelers will load the box and dare Jacksonville to pass.

Specifically, they'll serve Bubba Burgers - a staple at Jaguar home games.
