The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel wins two Golden Globes

Amazon made the decision after the series won two Golden Globes during Sunday's broadcast for its first season. Rachel Brosnahan, who plays the show's title character, also won earlier in the evening for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series.

Created by Gilmore Girls' Sherman-Palladino, the series stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam "Midge" Maisel, an Upper West Side housewife who dives into the stand-up comedy scene in the 1950s after her seemingly flawless life comes crashing down.

After winning Best Comedy Series at the 2018 Golden Globes, the streaming service will make The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel available for free starting Friday, January 12 at 12:01 a.m. local time and ending at 11:59 p.m. local time Monday, January 15, according to Variety. Heading into the ceremony, it seemed like Brosnahan was one of the favorites to win the award. More than half of U.S. Prime members who finished the series binged it within three days, according to the streamer.

Overall, Amazon's Golden Globes should help take some of the sting away from their lackluster Emmys.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel beat out other best comedy or musical nominees Black-ish, Master of None, SMILF and Will & Grace.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has already been renewed for a second series. You must have have an Amazon Prime membership or a Prime Video subscription to watch the series.
