Tomb Raider - Official Trailer #2 - Warner Bros. UK

Directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave) and co-starring Hannah John-Kamen (Killjoys), Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient), Walton Goggins (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands), and Dominic West (The Wire, 300), the film is a reboot after two earlier films starring Angelina Jolie playing Croft, a character first introduced in 1996 by Core Design's action-adventure video game for PC, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn.

With the casting of Vikander as Lara Croft, there was quite a bit of excitement over the prospect of a great Tomb Raider film.

Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft in the new trailer for the movie reboot Tomb Raider. She lands on a remote island and learns via video messages left by her father of an organization Trinity, which is "looking to start a global genocide".

The adaptation has celebrated Norwegian director Roar Uthaug behind the lens, and will hit United Kingdom cinemas on March 16. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or goal, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent. In the film, it has been seven years since her father's supposed death, but Lara refuses to move on and instead, leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad's last-known destination. Getting to the island is unsafe enough-but once she lands, Croft immediately learns that being there is even more treacherous than the journey.

With a cover of Destiny's Child "Survivor", the Tomb Raider trailer also joins the elite club of movie trailers with slowed-down cover songs. "Armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit", the nascent adventurer must "push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown".

The film stars Oscar victor Alicia Vikander ("Ex Machina", "The Danish Girl"), with Roar Uthaug ("The Wave") directing.

The synopsis concludes: "If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider".
