Trump signs executive order to improve mental health resources for Veterans

Earlier information about Trump's health came from his personal physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, who famously declared in 2015 that Trump would be "the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency".

Several reports have since described how Mr Trump gets "irritated" when media outlets use the lower height.

While the author of "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", has charged that Trump lacked the mental fitness to serve as president, drawing fire from Trump, his aides and supporters. What was interesting about the public announcement of the exam by the White House was its timing.

The Hollywood Reporter journalist claims in the book the President repeats the same stories every 10 minutes and has problems recognising old friends.

The White House will determine what data will be released from the exam, which will take place at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in nearby Bethesda, Md.

Trump takes Crestor for his cholesterol, a low-dose aspirin for heart attack prevention, Propecia to treat male-pattern baldness and antibiotics for rosacea.

Still, the decision to schedule a physical for this coming Friday was ultimately up to Trump. The doctor's 2016 letter stated that Trump's testosterone level, 441.6, was in the normal range, as were his PSA reading for prostate abnormalities and tests of his liver and thyroid. Jackson will release a brief statement following the physical, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Thursday.

There is no set template for the presidential exam. He is also the heaviest president in at least a generation and consumes a diet heavy with Big Macs, Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, fried chicken, pizza, well-done steak and two rounds of dessert.

More questions have been raised in the weeks since, given the tone of some of his tweets and the reported comments of some of the people who deal with him day to day.

Jackson, Trump's physician, is a Navy rear admiral who was the emergency medicine doctor for a shock trauma platoon in Taqaddum, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, according to his Navy bio. Physicians have provided care to presidents since George Washington was in office, and Congress created the formal title of White House physician in 1928.

The president is scheduled to have his physical with Dr. Ronny Jackson on Friday.
