4 killed, 15 trapped after under-construction building collapses in Karnataka

Three persons died and several others were feared trapped after an under construction building collapsed at Kasavanahalli near Bellandur on Thursday evening.

The Hindu reported that the Bellandur Police reported to the call and is now aiding and supervising rescue operations.

"Rescue operations are underway", a Deccan Chronicle report quoted Mayor Sampath Raj as saying.


They said at least 10 more workers were feared trapped under the debris of the ill-fated building. The report further said that the building had been under construction for six years, however, the work was halted for the last two years for unknown reasons. The police officials and the personnel from the State Disaster Relief Force are at the accident site to rescue those trapped. The under-construction building was reported to have five storeys. As per the Bengaluru Mayor, a permission for the three- storey building has been granted.

The under construction building which fall apart is located in Haralur, on the Central Jail Road in Kasavanahalli.

In October 2017, a two-storey house collapsed in Bengaluru's Ejipura. Seven people were left injured after the incident.
