The actor further said it is hard to find a film which justifies the presence of more than one male lead, and hence, the audience does not get to see movies with multiple leads anymore. When someone has the ability to write the content of some quality, then actors will do it.

Shahid said when filmmakers come up with films with various characters which are not uni-dimensional "only a stupid actor will say no" to them. "And whatever can be done to be a supportive co-actor, I did".

Padmaavat is made at an estimated budget of Rs170-180 crore and was screened across 3500 theatres in India. Moviegoers even mentioned that they felt Shahid's acting was better than Ranveer and one of his best performances till date. Sanjay sir always told me that anyone who read the script always asked who was going to play Mehrunisa.

After the release of Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone has revealed very shocking things related to the film.

"In many ways, the film is a turning point in my career and yet I was willing to put that on hold to address a much larger issue...", she continued.

"But I think it (the way he feels) is to do with the genre as well".

According to Viacom18 Motion Pictures, which produced the movie with Bhansali Productions, "Padmaavat" had a cumulative collection of Rs 212.5 crore till February 4.
