It was a well-planned attack: Kureepuzha

A group of 15 RSS/BJP workers led by a Panchayat member Dipu was behind the incident, said Vijayan while replying to the submission on the matter by the CPI MLA Mullakkara Ratnakaran.

Kureepuzha Sreekumar was attacked by a group when he was leaving from a venue where he went to attend a public function, in which he was a guest speaker.

"If I did not have a human chain of protection around me, they would have even physically attacked me".

Mr. Sreekumar was verbally abused and jostled while on his way back from a cultural event organised a local library in Kottukal. "But I am not scared".

The BJP has also filed a complaint with police demanding legal action against the poet for allegedly attempting to trigger communal violence "by destroying the peaceful atmosphere in the area".

Chennai: Six RSS-BJP men were arrested by the Kadakkal police in Kollam district of Kerala, while a search is on for several others for attacking Malayalam poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar for lashing out against a "caste wall" built against the dalits at Vadayampadi near Kochi. The poet, after participating in a cultural event organised by a library in Kottukal, was trying to get into his vehicle around 9 pmon Monday when a mob swooped on him. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan took to Facebook to condemn the attack on the poet by BJP-RSS men.

On Sunday, a protest was planned in the area, but the protesters did not get clearance from the police. While it was on, activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological mentor of the BJP, jeered and raised anti-Dalit slogans, the poet said in his speech.
