Momentum Watch: Philippines Index MSCI Ishares (EPHE) Spotted Above Chikou

Steinberg Global Asset Management's holdings in iShares MSCI EAFE Growth Index were worth $778,000 at the end of the most recent quarter. A move above 70 is widely considered to show the stock as overbought, and a move below 30 would indicate that the stock may be oversold. Obtaining the proper knowledge about stocks and the investing world is typically a main goal for active traders and investors.

The Tenkan Line or Tenkan Sen (Sen means line in Japanese) is known as the conversion line or turning line is similar to a 9SMA but actually is quite different. The Ichimoku Kinko Hyo system includes five kinds of signal, of which this site highlights the most recent of each for each ticker. Likewise, if the tenkan sen crosses below the kijun sen, then that is a bearish signal. As such, Ichimoku is not suitable for automated or "single event" decision making. In general, the tenkan sen/kijun sen strategy can be classified into three (3) major classifications: strong, neutral and weak. Presently, the 200-day moving average is at 3.60 and the 50-day is 3.78. The 50-day is 0.50, and the 7-day is sitting at 0.43. The indicator is computed by using the average losses and gains of a stock over a certain time period. In some cases, MA's may be used as strong reference points for spotting support and resistance levels. Many traders will use moving averages for different periods of time in conjunction with other indicators to help gauge future stock price action. The moving average can be used as a reference point to assist with the discovery of buying and selling opportunities. Moving averages may be used by investors and traders to shed some light on trading patterns for a specific stock. The Fund seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of publicly traded securities in the Japanese market, as measured by the MSCI Japan Index (the Index). They may be trying to project which companies will post positive surprises.

Sharp investors may be looking to examine the Williams Percent Range or Williams %R. RSI is a momentum oscillator that moves in a range from 0 to 100. Developed by Larry Williams, this indicator helps spot overbought and oversold market conditions.

The Williams %R is created to provide a general sense of when the equity might have reached an extreme and be primed for a reversal. This money flow ratio is what is pushed into an RSI formula to create a momentum indicator.

At the time of writing, the 14-day ADX for 3-7 Year Treasury Bond Ishares (IEI) is 47.80. As a momentum indicator, the Williams R% may be used with other technicals to help define a specific trend. If the RSI is closer to 100, this may indicate a period of stronger momentum. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. Taking a glance at the relative strength indictor, we note that the 14-day RSI is now at 36.60, the 7-day stands at 21.21, and the 3-day is sitting at 5.01. A value of 25-50 would indicate a strong trend. A reading under 20 would suggest no trend, and a reading from 20-25 would suggest that there is no clear trend signal. The ADX is often used along with the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of the trend. However, it can act as the first line of defense in a trend and a breaking of it in the opposite direction of the move can often be a sign of the defenses weakening.

Investors have the ability to use technical indicators when completing stock research.

The Price to Book ratio (Current share price / Book value per share) is a good valuation measure you can use to find undervalued investment ideas. The Williams %R fluctuates between 0 and -100 measuring whether a security is overbought or oversold. Normal oscillations tend to stay in the range of -100 to +100. Many consider the equity oversold if the reading is below -80 and overbought if the indicator is between 0 and -20.

Traders may be focusing on other technical indicators for stock assessment.

Keeping an eye on Moving Averages, the 50-day is 12.49, the 200-day is at 12.76, and the 7-day is 12.69 for Belmond Ltd (BEL).
