Parrikar says 'girls drinking beer' remark taken out of context

Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India, especially for the younger crowd, drawing people with its "Party vibes", but recent statements by Goa ministers against domestic tourists landed the tourist state in controversy.

He said Sardesai was referring to an incident of a tourist urinating from a bus window, the video of which had gone viral on the social media. "He (Sardesai) should not have used very harsh words".

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday informed that Goa government would be construction 70,000 toilets in the state under the Open Defecation Free (ODF) scheme. I spoke to him. he did not intend to, but it is not that his logic was wrong.

Supporting the comment of Goa Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai calling domestic tourist the "Scum on earth", Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said the minister was not able to convey himself correctly. He was not wrong in what he was highlighting. "Today, we receive tourists who are nearly six times the state's population. They are also the scum of the earth", Sardesai said. This, the government had said, was to cut down on the load on government-run facilities like the Goa Medical College and Hospital. "Those people - how will you control?" the Minister had said.

"Without going into the merits of the judgement.Goa is facing economic problems - is a fact", Parrikar said.

"I do not wish to comment on the utter foolish statement on girls drinking beer, as the IITian (Parrikar is an IIT-Mumbai alumnus) should know that any effects of alcohol are gender neutral and no laws can ban only girls drinking beer".
