Steelers' Rooney wants to sign Le'Veon Bell to long-term deal

Impending free agent Le'Veon Bell isn't alone in his newfound confidence that a long-term agreement will be reached to solidify his future in Pittsburgh. On Thursday, Steelers team president Art Rooney II was a guest on DVE Radio and he was asked to give his thoughts on Tomlin talking about the Patriots during that interview with Dungy. That's what we've got to work on.

Roethlisberger's current contract runs through the 2019 season. Bell is also coming off another highly productive campaign where he finished third in rushing yards with 1,291 while recording nine touchdowns.

"With every signing we do, we look at all the facts", Rooney said about Bell's deal.

In his statement, Lake said he made a decision to return to California to be a part of his youngest son's final year of high school football.

Pittsburgh's secondary underwent a massive overhaul during Lake's tenure, as Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor and Ryan Clark gave way to Mike Mitchell, Artie Burns and Sean Davis. The Rooney family has built one of the most stable and successful sports franchises of all time.

"No, that's right, that's right", Rooney said. There were things that got done that I didn't think would get done and vice versa.

Shortly after the Steelers' season-ending loss to the Jaguars, Bell was labeled a prime culprit for missing the majority of the team's final walkthrough. "It has been a privilege and honor to play and coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers".

"Anybody that wants to look at Mike's track record since he's been our coach, I think the record speaks for itself", Rooney said. Rooney II told reporters that regardless of what happens, injured linebacker Ryan Shazier will have a role with the team in the upcoming season.

Rooney said there was blame to go around on both sides for the way Harrison's tenure with Pittsburgh ended, adding he would have preferred Harrison's year end with getting five sacks in a Super Bowl with the Steelers. While any discussion of a playing career is premature, Rooney said the team expects Shazier to have a role with the team in 2018.
