Apple Reportedly Modifies MFi Logo, Gives Manufacturers 90 Days to Respond

Now, the manufacturers will have 90 days to update their packagings and MFi logos. Specifically, the company has changed the MFi logo.

Apple is giving Made-For-iPhone/iPad/iPod (MFi) accessory makers the green light to make a lighting to 3.5mm output cable and USB-C ports.

A source tells ChargerLab that Apple informed partners of the change last month. However, there's been some recent gossip going around that the MFi logo will change soon and all the certified third-party accessories are required to modify the MFi logo on all their products in the future.

The new logo will feature one black Apple icon, instead of three different illustrations for the Apple devices.

Notably, Apple similarly started letting companies use its own Lightning port receptacle on MFi accessories a few years back and many Made-for-iPhone chargers, docks, game controllers and other products have adopted it since. This order change seems to be due to the popularity of each product line. The font style for the words in the MFi logo also changed.

With the new specs, companies in the MFi program can now include USB-C receptacles on their officially certified iOS and Mac accessories for charging.

"Promote your electronic accessory with MFi logos", the MFi program states on Apple's website. However, Apple users have complained that these particular accessories are priced too high.
