Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud sends fierce warning to Tottenham star Hugo Lloris

Olivier Giroud says that he is "satisfied" with the start that he has made at Chelsea but accepts that he will need to improve his statistics if he is to be considered a success at Stamford Bridge. Hopefully I will play some more games for France, and it would be great to score some more - especially at a World Cup if I am there and I play.

Speaking to L'Equipe while on worldwide duty with France, the 31-year-old admitted that he is disappointed with statistics, but knows he has more to offer in a Chelsea shirt.

The France striker has scored just once in eight appearances, and told L'Equipe: "You have to be demanding with yourself". Now, there could have, should have been more goals.

"The difference is the coach made me sign and he wants to play me, he likes my profile", he said. When you sign like that in January, it's never easy because you have to acclimatise yourself to the team. "It is sure that it is not enough". But I really wanted to be ready right away, even though I was coming back from nearly six weeks of injury.

"But I wanted to be ready straight away, even though I was coming back from six weeks of injury".

"But the Spurs game is massive and though Hugo is my colleague for France I would give him a smile if I scored in that one as we really need to win it".

Olivier Giroud claims former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires advised him to join Chelsea. It went very well.

Giroud could feature tonight for Didier Deschamps's side as France take on Colombia at the Stade de France, before facing off against the tournament host nation Russian Federation on Tuesday.
