Hillary Clinton: US did not 'deserve' Trump presidency

"And [Trump's] whole campaign - "Make America Great Again" - was looking backward. And then she goes ahead and insults white women, that we can't think for ourselves, we can't vote for ourselves".

She also said that women who voted for Trump were too dumb to make up their own minds, and had been brainwashed by "ongoing pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should".

"If you look at the map of the United States, there is all that red in the middle, places where Trump won", the former first lady said at the India Today Conclave in Mumbai.

For good measure, Clinton tore into women who voted for Trump as well - and suggested that they are all little Tammy Wynettes standing by their men.

"So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward", Clinton said, referring to the coastal, densely populated regions of the country that voted for her campaign.

One former senior Obama White House aide added, "If these statements are a form of catharsis, it would be in the Democratic Party's best interest for her to get these out of her system soon".

She later warned: "If the [Democratic] Party is the party of the heathens, we're going to have Trump for another four years". Tribalism in voting exists on both sides: The intersectional politics of the Democratic Party is inherently race-based, and Trump successfully responded to that sort of politics in reactionary fashion.

Lahren argued that Democrats cannot win "middle America" unless they distance themselves from Clinton. "That's a lot of states".

In other words, Reines knows that Trump's messages resonated deeply in the heartland of America.

Last weekend, Hillary Clinton spoke in India.

'The Democrat brand is isolated, elitist, and as out-of-touch as it ever has been, ' Reed harped as he shared Clinton's comments with reporters. We really do try very hard, ' Reed snarked.
