Hit-and-run driver tried to get away

Cameras captured a confrontation between victims of a hit-and-run crash and the alleged culprit in the City of Miami over the weekend. The cause of the wreck is unknown.

The driver of that white van, with what appears to be a sledgehammer, joining the effort, pounding away at the fleeing SUV's windows repeatedly. During his initial attempt to run, he was approached by two people trying to stop the driver from leaving by shouting and banging on the window.

Police said Lagutenko was arrested after a Fire Rescue crew that was treating him stopped at the crash site and asked the officer who was taking the accident report whether their patient was involved in the crash. "(Don't move!"). The man stood near the wheels of the vehicle and the driver then proceeded to accelerate.

Other people are seen in the video trying to pry open the auto doors and taking pictures of the car's license plate.

Despite repeated attempts of the people to get the driver to stop and get out of the vehicle, the driver ignores them and continues to accelerate.

The was no immediate information about the charges the driver may be facing and why the SUV was apparently trying to flee the crash scene.

In the video, the driver of a badly hit silver Infiniti SUV reversed the vehicle out of the scene of the wreck, trying to leave.

Dramatic video footage shows the crumpled silver Infiniti SUV attempting to escape after slamming into six cars in Miami Saturday.

"I'll call the cops and I'll try to chase him down, but to pull out a hammer", Jimenez told Local 10.
