JJ Watt breaks news of Tyrann Mathieu's deal with Texans

Going into the off season, the Texans wanted to improve their secondary, with the addition of Mathieu and the previously signed Aaron Colvin, Brian Gaine has done just that.

Houston announced the signing on Friday night. Reportedly, the Cardinals' last offer on the pay cut was $8 million. Sources told ESPN and NFL Network that the deal is for one year and $7 million.

According to reports, the base of the deal is worth $7million for the 2015 Pro-Bowl selection.

Mathieu has recorded 303 tackles, 11 interceptions, four sacks and four forced fumbles since being selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The former St. Augustine standout was released by the Cardinals this week after spending all five years of his career in Arizona.

After his release, Texans star J.J. Watt had campaigned to bring the "Honey Badger" to Houston.

"Lets go bro!" Mathieu tweeted in response to Watt.

Mathieu can line up at cornerback or safety, matching up against pass catchers with diverse skillsets and body types. And so will the Texans with a healthy Deshaun Watson under center.
